Target Games

Target Games are activities in which players send an object toward a target while avoiding any obstacles. By playing these games, participants will learn the key skills and strategies for games such as Croquet, Golf, Archery, Boccia, Curling and Bowling.

Participants learn about and practise aim and accuracy as they send an object toward targets different distances away.

Croquet Ball

Participants learn about and practise accurately sending an object through a series of targets.

Knock Down

Participants learn about and practise sending an object to knock down a variety of targets.

Through the Goal

Participants learn about and practise sending a ball with their feet through a target.

Pinwheel

Participants learn about and practise sending an object toward a target surrounded by bowling pins while standing at different distances.

Target 5

Participants learn about and practise sending an object to hit a variety of different targets.

Beanbag Boccia

Participants learn about and practise sending an object toward a target to accumulate the most points.

Target Toss

Participants learn about and practise sending an object toward a target while attempting to score points for accuracy.

Bull’s Eye

Participants learn about and practise sending an object toward a target to score the highest number of points.

3, 2, 1

Participants learn about and practise aim and accuracy as they send an object to targets on a wall.

Archers Away

Participants learn about and practise sending an object with aim and accuracy as they participate in a target game. This game is inspired by archery.

Snake Toss

Participants learn about and practise sending an object farther than their group members. This activity is inspired by a game with First Nation origins. It is a modification of a Haudenosaunee game called Snow Snake.

Zig Zag Snake Toss

Participants learn about and practise sending an object through a designated course and toward a target. This activity is inspired by a game that has First Nation origins. The activity is a modification of a Haudenosaunee game called Snow Snake.

Scoop It Up

Striking/Fielding

Participants learn about and practise striking and fielding a ball while using an implement. This activity is inspired by lacrosse which has First Nation origins. One of the oldest North American sports, lacrosse evolved from games played by nations such as the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois nations) found around the Great Lakes.
