Striking/Fielding

Striking/Fielding Games are activities in which players score points by striking an object and running to designated playing areas or prevent opponents from scoring by retrieving the object and returning it to stop the play. By playing these games, participants will learn the key skills and tactics for games such as Baseball, Cricket and Softball.

Batter’s Bonanza

Participants learn about and practise using an implement to strike an object at targets in the activity area.

Four Corners

Participants learn about and practise striking a ball to score runs against the fielding group.

Parallel

Batters learn about and practise striking a ball with an implement while working with another participant to score points. Fielders learn about and practise fielding a ball to prevent the batter from scoring points.

Race to the Base

Participants learn about and practise striking a ball to score runs, and fielding a ball to prevent the batter from scoring points.

Apple to Bucket

Participants learn about and practise striking an object with an implement into an open area. Participants learn about and practise fielding a ball to prevent points from being scored.

Flying Chicken Baseball

Participants learn about and practise sending an object into an open area while attempting to score runs. Participants learn about and practise fielding an object and preventing the opponent from scoring runs.

In-coming

Participants learn about and practise striking a ball with their hand to their group members and working as a group to field balls.

3-Ball Kick Baseball

Participants learn about and practise sending an object with their feet to score a run. Participants also learn about and practise fielding an object to prevent the opponent from scoring runs.

Kick It Cricket

Participants learn about and practise striking a ball with their foot to score runs and fielding a ball to prevent a kicker from scoring runs.

Multi-Ball Baseball

Participants learn about and practise sending balls while attempting to score runs and fielding balls to prevent an opponent from scoring runs.

Kickster

Participants learn about and practise striking a ball using their feet and working as group to field a ball.

Uphill, Downhill

Participants learn about and practise working together to successfully field an object using a relay system.

Hoops and Loops

Participants learn about and practise sending an object toward a target using an implement. Participants learn about and practise fielding an object to prevent scoring.

Quick Stick

Participants learn about and practise striking and fielding a ball while using an implement. This activity is inspired by lacrosse which has First Nation origins. One of the oldest North American sports, lacrosse evolved from games played by nations such as the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois nations) found around the Great Lakes.

Scoop It Up

Participants learn about and practise striking and fielding a ball while using an implement. This activity is inspired by lacrosse which has First Nation origins.
