Net/Wall

Net/Wall Games are activities in which players send an object towards a court or target area that an opponent is defending. The aim is to cause the object to land in the target area while making it difficult for the opponent to return the object. By playing these games, participants will learn the key skills and tactics in games such as Sitting Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Racquet Ball, Volleyball, Sepak Takraw and Wheelchair Tennis.

Squish

Participants learn about and practise sending and receiving a ball off a wall to attempt to score a point in their opponent’s court.

Switcheroo

Participants learn about and practise working together to send and receive a ball over a net to create a rally.

Twos

Participants learn about and practise working in a group to send and receive an object over a net to score the most number of points while staying within a designated area.

Serve It Up

Participants learn about and practise sending a ball over a net into a target.

Sitting Volleyball Mini Courts

Participants learn about and practise working together with another group to sustain a rally by sending and receiving a ball over a net.

Foot Strike

Participants learn about and practise sending a ball over a net and into open space. Participants also learn about and practise receiving a ball over a net before it lands on the ground.

Keep It Up

Participants learn about and practise working in a group to keep an object in the air.

One Bounce

Participants learn about and practise sending and receiving a ball with a partner to create a rally.

Wall Ball

Participants learn about and practise sending/receiving a ball to/from a wall with a partner to complete a rally.

Clear and Tip Rally

Participants learn about and practise sending and receiving a shuttlecock over a net while working together as a group.

Up, Up, and Away

Participants learn about and practise working in a group to sustain a rally by sending and receiving an object.

Whacket Away

Participants learn about and practise sending an object into open space using a racket. Participants learn about and practise defending an area.

Toss Up

Participants learn about and practise working with another participant to create a rally by sending a receiving a ball.

Jumping Sticks

Participants learn about and practise sending an object over a net and into a designated area. Participants learn about and practise defending an area on their side of the net. This activity is inspired by a Blackfoot game called Make the Stick Jump.

Lob Ball

Participants learn about and practise using an implement to send and receive an object in a net game. This activity is inspired by lacrosse which has First Nation origins. One of the oldest North American sports, lacrosse evolved from games played by nations such as the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois nations) found around the Great Lakes.

Tossing the Ball (Cree Volleyball Game)

Participants learn about and practise within a group to send and receive a ball while covering a designated area. This activity is based on a First Nation game played by the Cree that is similar to volleyball.
