Tactical Focus:
Aim and Accuracy
Teams will choose 4 blocks (or pylons) and place them on a line 10 meters away from the center of the play area. |
In the center of the blocks is a pylon with a ball placed on top. This represents the princess on her tower who needs to be saved. |
Each team member is given an object to strike (e.g. tennis ball, beanbag, etc). |
In order to save the princess, players must knock down opponents 4 blocks (dragons), using a ball, and then knock the princess (ball) off her tower (pylon) |
Players may only retrieve their objects that they have thrown after everyone on both teams have their object. |
The first team to defeat all the dragons and save the princess wins! |
Time limit: Add a time limit in order to try and save the princess |
Add more princesses to be saved |
Add more dragons or make them more difficult to knock down. |
Protect the Princess: Place a pylon with a ball on top (i.e., the princess) about 10 - 15 paces away. Each team member then rolls an object (e.g., gator ball, stuffed animal, rubber chicken) to act as the dragons to protect the princess. This fosters decision making about important locations to protect the princess. |
Project objects using implements (e.g., hockey sticks, golf clubs, scoops, etc). |
Why is it important to use different amounts of force? |
It will take a lot of force in order to knock over the dragons. |
However, it will not take as much force to knock the ball off the pylon in order to rescue the princess. |
Use larger blocks to make it easier to knock down targets. |
Play seated |
Use a peer assisant when necessary |
