Tactical Focus:
Regain Possession
Set Up: using pylons 2 squares are created (approx. 2 square metres) named the "end zone". The are placed in a square pattern rougly 25 metres from one another. |
Another square is made using pylons (approx. 4 square metres) named the "Red Zone" and is placed in the centre of the field. |
Each of the four players in the red zone begin with a ball (any ball or frisbee etc.) The players inside the red zone try to throw the ball to one of their team members in the endzones. |
If the player in the endzone catches the ball he/she must run into the red zone while the thrower must take his/her position in the endzone. This would be one point. |
If the person in the endzone does not catch the ball or the opposing player in front is able to catch or block the ball the defending player must get the ball and enter the red zone. |
The player must also send one of his team members from the red zone to take his position on defense. |
As the defending player leaves to the red zone it allows for the person in the endzone to be left unatended for an easy catch. This allows for strategizing and ensures quick changes. |
A throw can only be made within the red zone. One point is awarded for a catch. |
Consecutive catches from within the same endzone adds extra point to your original score. (ex. if three cosecutive cathces are made within the same endzone that team would have 1+2+3 = 6 points) |
Using a frisbee can make throws more difficult and less accurate. |
Increasing the distance between the endzones and the red zone can make it more difficult. |
What are effective ways for defenders to try and prevent a successful pass? |
Anticiapte where the throw will go and beat the opponent to the ball. |
Position yourself in such a way so that you can see both the ball and the opponent at the same time. |
Taking away the defender allows for a clear throw. This allows any individual to catch the ball. |
Reducing the size of play also allows for a variety of physical levels. |
