Over The Rainbow

Tactical Focus:
Aim and Accuracy
Set up 4 hula hoops in a semi circle formation (like a rainbow). Set up a boundary line for the participants to toss their bean bags from.
Toss coloured bean bag into one of the hula hoops, making sure that each of the four coloured bean bags are in the hula hoop.
Bean bags have to stay in bounds (inside the hula hoop perimeter), one bean bag of each colour in the hoop and players must stay behind the boundary line before tossing the bean bag.

The leader can call out a colour and the participants must throw the correct bean bag into the correct hoop
Project the beanbag using different types of throw (e.g., overhand, between legs, backwards, high in the air, jump and throw, etc).
Ask participants for creative ways they can throw the beanbags into the rainbows.
Add obstacles (e.g., pylons, benches, desks, chairs) to serve as clouds. Now try and throw the beanbags over the clouds into the rainbow.
Food Group Rainbow: Each hula hoop represents a food group. Beanbags represent a type of food (e.g., tape the name of a food to each beanbag). Participants then try to throw the beanbag into the correct hoop in the Food Group rainbow.

Why is it important to not try to throw the beanbag as hard as you can?
It will not stay inside the rainbow.
You will not be as accurate and will likely miss the rainbow.

Pictures can be placed in the hoola hoops to give a visual goal.
Decrease the distance between the boundary line and hula-hoops.
Decrease the playing area by moving the hoola hoops close together.
Use other objects such as stuffed animals or balls with tails to enhance control if necessary.
